Depending upon their skills and goals, campers in this independent program may have the opportunity to serve as a mentor for younger campers enrolled in the Family Program. These campers can benefit from activities that help build critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and advanced pragmatic abilities. Youth between 15-21 years old who are linguistically competent using an AAC device are encouraged to attend this program without their family. Siblings participate fully in all recreational activities of camp. Parents connect with each other for support and also receive training from Speech & Language Pathologists. The whole family shares cabins with other families. Rising Treetops at Oakhurst is close to the beach, the boardwalk, and other area attractions of the New Jersey Shore. Rising Treetops at Oakhurst can be easily reached from Newark Airport (EWR) and is close to the Elberon Station of the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line. There is a children’s ball field, a campfire site, gymnasium, recreation hall, media arts room, and arts & crafts area. It has a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof. Rising Treetops at Oakhurst's 15-acre facility is barrier-free and includes 12 totally accessible buildings to accommodate all Chatterbox program activities. Location : Rising Treetops at Oakhurst in Monmouth County Each evening, campers, siblings, parents, and staff gather for activities such as campfires, dances, and a camp talent show. In addition, recreational activities include swimming, nature exploration, art, and sports. Activities facilitate AAC device use throughout the day, and help build expressive language and critical thinking skills in a fun and functional environment. Therapy activities are led by licensed and ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologists, special education teachers, recreational therapists, and other qualified professionals.
All campers participate in a range of social, recreational, and educational activities to promote use of their communication systems and interact with other children.

In her free time, Hannah enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and creative activities like knitting and embroidery.Camp Chatterbox is a one week overnight camp for children and young adults, ages 5-21, who use synthesized Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. Hannah is passionate about aiding children and their families in establishing and developing functional communication. She has clinical experience evaluating and treating children with a variety of diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, craniofacial disorders & syndromes, receptive-expressive language disorders, articulation disorders, and fluency disorders.
Hannah has had the opportunity to work with children and their families in a variety of settings, including the public school system and pediatric outpatient clinics. Hannah attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate studies as well and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics. Hannah graduated from the University of Kentucky in May, 2022 with her Master of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders. She enjoys working in her community where she grew up. She lives in her hometown of Shelbyville, Kentucky with her husband and three children. She has intermediate signing skills ( SEE) and has completed training in evaluation and treatment for children with dyslexia. She believes in a familyĬentered approach to therapy where therapy can fun and embedded into every day routines. She has worked in schools, daycares and children's homes.Īnn Wilson has a special interest in early intervention where she learned the importance of teaching in the child's natural environment and building relationships with parents, siblings and caregivers.

She holds her national certification from American Speech Language Hearing Association as well as a license to practice Speech Language Pathology in the state of Kentuckyĭuring her professional career She has had the opportunity to work with children (infancy through five years of age) with a variety of disorders including but not limited to: developmental delays, down syndrome, hearing impairments, cochlear implants, autism, apraxia, articulation and phonological disorders. She attended Marshall University where she completed her Masters of Arts in Speech Language Pathology. Ann Wilson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Kentucky.
